Preclinical glioblastoma model overview

Our orthotopic glioblastoma (GBM) model provides an in vivo platform for studying brain tumor growth, progression and therapeutic response. Longitudinal bioluminescence imaging (BLI), combined with 3D imaging and CT, enables quantitative monitoring and anatomical localization of GBM progression over time.

About our glioblastoma model

Our orthotopic glioblastoma model uses patient-derived or cell line-derived GBM cells implanted stereotactically into the mouse striatum, establishing tumors within the relevant brain microenvironment. Longitudinal bioluminescence imaging (BLI) enables quantitative, non-invasive monitoring of tumor burden and progression in the same animal over time.

BLI can be combined with 3D imaging and CT to provide anatomical localization of the intracranial tumor. Near-infrared fluorescent probes can also be incorporated to investigate tumor-associated processes including angiogenesis, apoptosis, metabolism and hypoxia. Studies can be complemented by behavioral assessment, blood or CSF sampling, histology and molecular analyses to further characterize disease progression and therapeutic response.
